The newly completed 700,000-square-foot health complex in Bloomington serves the surrounding region with facilities including a cancer center, surgical services, a women’s center, neonatal intensive care, physician offices, and a trauma center. It features a state-of-the-art simulation center for training IU Health and IU clinicians.
Additionally, the 115,000-square-foot IU Academic Health Sciences Building consolidates health science programs, including medicine, nursing, social work, speech and hearing, and a new dentistry program.
IU Health and IU leaders hailed the facility as the start of a new healthcare era in the region. The complex enhances and broadens services, expands education and research capacity, and offers a collaborative environment for health professionals.
IU President Michael A. McRobbie emphasized the building’s role in expanding IU's health sciences programs and addressing the shortage of healthcare workers. The facility houses about 100 faculty and staff and trains around 1,000 students. Funding partly comes from Big Ten Network revenue, supporting the university’s academic mission.
The facility is now fully operational, marking a significant advancement in regional healthcare services.
